Species Group

The Species Group meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Edgewater Library from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.   Directions

The group is now organized and have joined forces with the "Native Orchid Restoration Project" (NORP).  Bob Clifford is on the board of NORP which is a nationally recognized organization which is partially being sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute.

All CFOS members are welcome to attend the meetings.

The group has lots of fun at meetings and field trips. Field trips take members to look at native Florida terrestrials.

The Species Group is also involved in conservation, and a current project is flasking the species Encyclia tampensis for the purpose of growing plants to be put back in the wild. Coordination with the state of Florida is required for projects of this kind. Collectors and development have threatened this species and many other Florida native species.
