| When and Where are the
Meetings? |
The General Meetings of the Central
Florida Orchid Society are held at Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Avenue,
Orlando, on the second Monday of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Guests are
welcome to attend. For directions to Leu Gardens, Click Here.
Each meeting includes a program with a guest speaker, an
orchid vendor selling plants or supplies, silent plant auction, door prize,
raffle, and refreshments. Plant tables are set up so members can bring their
blooming plants to be judged by members of the Evaluation and Awards Group.
Ribbons are awarded for the best plants in each of several categories. |
| How can I become a
member of CFOS? |

The membership chairperson, Nancy
Hoffman, is at the door of each General Meeting. She has membership
application forms for interested guests. Annual dues are $15.00 for
individuals, $25.00 for couples, and $8.00 for students aged 18 and under.
Once you have submitted the application, Nancy will have your membership
card available for you to pick up at the next General Meeting. |
| Does CFOS have Study
Groups? |

Each group meets once a month. Follow the links for for more information
about the meeting times and agendas of each individual group.
|
| Does the
CFOS need Volunteers? |
|
Active members are the key to CFOS. Beginning orchid
enthusiasts and new members can quickly become active members. Pronouncing the
Latin names of orchids is not a requirement for
volunteering.
CFOS has many Committees defined in the Constitution and By
Laws. Each committee needs a chair and members.
Volunteer tasks range from
making a few phone calls, baking cookies for a meeting or greeting visitors
at a show, to running the silent auction, website design, newsletter layout,
membership tracking, librarian, traveling to other orchid society shows and
helping to install displays sponsored by our group, running the raffle & door
prizes, organizing the refreshments, or even becoming a member of our own Show
Committee, to organize our large Spring and Fall Orchid Shows.
